1. Purpose

Puffin Wood Fuels is committed to sourcing materials and services in a way that is lawful, responsible, and aligned with recognised ethical and sustainability standards.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all materials, products, and services purchased by the Company.

3. Our Ethical Standards

We source only from reputable, compliant suppliers and require that all materials—particularly wood-based products—meet the highest industry standards. We do not purchase from any source involved in illegal harvesting, exploitation, or poor labour practices.

4. Certifications & Assurance

Our products and operations are supported by the following accreditations and permits:

  • FSC® – responsible forestry
  • HETAS – safe, clean, compliant fuel products
  • BSL (Biomass Suppliers List) – verified sustainable biomass
  • ENplus® A1 – high-grade pellet quality
  • Woodsure Certification – assured wood fuel quality
  • RHA Membership – compliant transport operations
  • SEPA Waste Permit – responsible environmental management

These standards demonstrate our commitment to responsible sourcing, product quality, and environmental integrity.

5. Legal Compliance

We comply with all relevant UK laws and regulations including:

  • The Modern Slavery Act
  • Environmental and waste regulations
  • Employment and health & safety legislation

We expect all suppliers to meet the same legal requirements as a minimum.

6. Environmental Responsibility

We prioritise materials and products that support sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and align with our accreditations and regulatory obligations.

7. Modern Slavery & Human Rights

We do not tolerate forced labour, child labour, or any form of exploitation in our operations or supply chain. Our annual Modern Slavery Statement outlines our position in full.

8. Review

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains aligned with legislation, industry standards, and our certification requirements.
